It’s Okay To Wear The Same Outfit Twice

How many times have you been getting ready for a night out or special occasion and said to yourself ‘aw, I can’t wear that I wore it last time’?  Well, so what?  So what if you bought a top that you wore out for drinks last week and you want to wear it again?  When did there become such a stigma about recycling outfits because God forbid, you post on instagram a similar picture twice?

When I was younger and the only thing we did every weekend was go out and drink, I would have spent my week’s earnings on a new outfit.  Every.  Single.  Week.  To then wear it once, probably spill drink down and then never wear it again or donate them.  While donating clothes is an excellent thing, spending hard earned money to wear something once is not.

This was okay when I was younger as I didn’t know any better and I had money of my own that I earned for the first time.  I had to spend it as soon a I received it.  I wish someone has explained to me that I should buy items that I can re wear and jazz up with accessories to get the most from the clothing that I am buying.

What I am trying to explain is that it is okay to wear the same outfit more than once.  In fact it’s okay to wear it multiple times!  I am not saying that you need to wear something until it’s falling apart but don’t just disregard something because you have already worn it.  There can be such negativity involving wearing clothes more than once.  Especially when social media is involved and if you are a regular poster, there can be pressure to put out new content that is interesting to your followers.

I have been trying to be a little smarter with what I have been purchasing recently as I want to buy things that I can easily spice up and alter with accessories to create an entirely new outfit.  Yes, I am well aware that this is not a new insight, I haven’t stumbled upon a revelation but something that I never really would have bothered to do before.  So expect to see a few more ‘struggling to find things to wear’ posts until I figure out how to nicely accessorize all my looks but being at the Belfast Fashion Week Press Launch has kickstarted my inspiration for accessorising so let’s see what I end up with for this season!  Watch this space…

Belfast Fashion Week Press Launch ’18

Hello all,

For those of you who follow me on Instagram you’ll know that the lovely Cathy Martin (CMPR) invited me along to the Belfast Fashion Week Press Launch in Ormeau Baths yesterday.  As IF that’s not exciting enough this years marks the 25th Belfast Fashion Week, meaning that this one is definitely not to be missed!

A Press Launch is essentially a quick preview of the clothes that are going to be show cased at the upcoming Fashion Week hosted by West Coast Cooler (22nd March – 25th March http://www.belfastfashionweek.com/).  Speaking of West Coast Cooler, as it is one of my favourite drinks of course I am going to make an appearance!  Any blogger event is always sure to be loads of fun, surrounded by local bloggers all under the one roof!  With friends all around and fashion masterpieces put together by Cathy herself, it was a brilliant afternoon.  Upon arrival I was met with an ice cold glass of West Coast Cooler – off to a great start and can I just say speaking as someone who isn’t exactly on the ball when it comes to fashion even I am excited!  Even I am looking forward to wearing some of this season’s trends rather than sticking it out in my regular all black attire (habit of a Make Up Artist).  Perhaps a pop of colour is what I need… which is perfect considering that’s exactly what Spring/Summer 2018 has in store.

We seen beautiful pieces from brands such as Nor Lisa Fashion Designer, Lover of Luxe, Ring o Rosies, Topshop, ASOS, Dunnes Savida and many, many more!

Let’s take a quick peek at a few of my favourites from yesterday’s Launch…

Pink

Makes the boys wink!  Pink is one of the most beautiful colours and is perfect for Spring/Summer.  We seen beautiful, effervescent pieces from furry coats to fabulous pencil skirts, from socks in shoes (excited by this) to Elle Woods worthy outfits.  See below for yourself, but expect an influx of pink into your favourite shops this season.

Lilac

Leading on from the pink theme, we enter the world of this beautiful pastel lilac hue.  The ice cream style colour is sure to enter your wardrobe at least one way or another.  I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this colour since yesterday.  I am especially feeling the pineapple bag!

Green

One of my favourite colours to wear as green is quite an easy to style colour and tends to flatter most.  I tend to have the fear of looking like Shrek when I wear green but I am going to take some style tips from the below photos as this green is made to look very elegant.

Obsessed with this Topshop suit!

Stripes & Spots

I for one, am immensely happy that this trend isn’t shifting as  the majority of my clothes have either a stripe or spot print, so expect a lot of this from me.

I am so excited for West Coast Cooler Belfast Fashion Week to see what else Cathy and her amazing team have in store for us.
